Manuscript Templates

Download the template for your article type before you begin writing.

Radiology Research Journal (RRJ) provides ready-to-use manuscript templates and supporting forms. Using the correct template is the fastest way through the technical check: it places every required section and declaration where the editorial office expects to find it, and prevents the most common cause of a submission being returned before review.

Download Templates and Forms

All manuscript templates and author forms are held in the journal's shared folder. The folder is updated whenever a template is revised, so always download a fresh copy rather than reusing an older file.

What the Folder Contains
Original Research Article
Full IMRaD structure with structured abstract, ethics and consent statements, CRediT, and declaration blocks already in place.
Systematic Review, Meta-Analysis, and Scoping Review
Laid out for PRISMA or PRISMA-ScR reporting, with places for the search strategy, flow diagram, and risk-of-bias assessment.
Case Report and Case Series
Structured to the CARE guideline, with a prominent consent statement and a timeline section for the imaging findings.
Technical Report and Methodological Study
For protocol optimisation, phantom work, instrumentation, dosimetry, and image quality studies, with dedicated blocks for acquisition parameters.
Educational Research
For studies on radiology and imaging education, curriculum, assessment, and workforce development.
Title Page (separate file)
Holds every piece of identifying information, so that the main manuscript file can remain anonymous for double-anonymous review.
Supporting Forms

How to Use a Template
STEP 1
Open the folder and download the template matching your article type, plus the title page template.
STEP 2
Save your own copy before editing. Do not request edit access to the shared files; the originals must stay unchanged for other authors.
STEP 3
Replace the instructional text with your own, keeping the headings and their order intact. Delete any section that genuinely does not apply.
STEP 4
Keep all identifying details in the title page file only. The main manuscript must contain no names, affiliations, or acknowledgements.
STEP 5
Clear the author name from the file properties before saving, since it survives in the document metadata and breaks anonymity.
STEP 6
Run through the submission checklist, then upload through the journal's online submission system.

Technical Specification
TIFF or PNG for radiographic images; JPEG only if unavoidable.
Minimum 300 dpi for greyscale and colour, 600 dpi for line art.
Export from the workstation at full diagnostic window; do not photograph a monitor.
Name files by figure number, for example Figure_1.tif.
Before You Upload Any Image
Strip all DICOM metadata, including private tags.
Remove burned-in names, record numbers, and dates from the pixel data.
Deface any three-dimensional head reconstruction.
Never mask an identifier with a black box in a layered file — flatten the image instead.

Adjustment of brightness, contrast, or window level must be applied uniformly to the whole image. Selective enhancement, cloning, splicing, or the use of a generative model to alter a clinical image is prohibited; the full rules are set out in the Publication Ethics and Generative AI policies. Retain your unprocessed source files, as the editorial office may request them.

Declarations Every Template Includes
Ethics approval — committee name, approval number, and date, or the waiver reference.
Informed consent — obtained, waived, or not applicable, stated explicitly.
Competing interests — disclosed for every author, or declared as none.
Funding — each funder and grant number, and the funder's role.
Author contributions — CRediT roles for each named author.
Data availability — where the data are, or why they cannot be shared.
Generative AI use — tool, version, and purpose, or a statement that none was used.
Acknowledgements — contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria, with their permission.
Before You Submit
The correct template was used and the section order preserved.
The main manuscript is fully anonymised, including the file properties.
The title page is a separate file containing all author details and ORCID identifiers.
Every declaration block is completed, none left as template text.
Figures are uploaded separately, de-identified, and at the required resolution.
The reporting guideline checklist for your study design is attached.
References are formatted in the journal's style and every citation is verified against the original source.
A similarity check has been run and the result is within the journal's threshold.
If a Template Will Not Open

The folder is open to anyone with the link, and no permission request is needed. If a file will not download, try opening the link in a different browser or signing out of an institutional account that may be restricting access. Should the problem persist, write to adminradres@gmail.com stating which template you need and it will be sent to you directly.
